    Going in the draft of Vazquaz, and given 1:42 credentials, 49.0 was not too fast, and with others hanging back he had a pretty good gap.

    American men have a good night with three golds while the women do as well as could be in the 200, similarly, top runners other than the two superstars in the 400, the best Jav in a long time, and of course two superstars plus a former medalist in the 400h.

    Brazier clearly had a lot left after the semi’s. Everyone else looked gassed. Even Vasquez faded badly although his 1st 400 was suicidal. Was this the humid climate playing a part? And will Tokyo be Less hot and humid? Will have to check the weather forecast for 2020....

    I remember Johnny Gray used to top the list for most sub 1.45s. I don't know what that list looks like now.
