from an AP story now posted to home page (don'tt\ recall hearing this before)
<<...The decision had a ripple effect, though, with Wenjun Xie of China dropping to fifth place. The Chinese team lodged an appeal to contest the decision to place two athletes in the same position when each had different times (Martinot-Lagarde finished in 13.18 seconds and Ortega in 13.30). The Chinese felt the decision was arbitrary and not based on any written IAAF regulation. The appeal was denied...>>

10-10-2019 01:41 AMThey should stop putting the top 4 seeded hurdlers together in the middle 4 lanes. Put them in 1, 3, 6, and 8 (or 2, 4, 7, 9 on a 9-lane track) so they're less likely to collide.

10-10-2019 05:20 PMGrant definitely runs out of space late (anthropometrics and the high velocity he can attain) causing him to float hurdles late and a more significant drop in velocity than some of the other top guys though in early to mid race it's no contest to that point. If he learns to control that he will run even faster. it might be an effective strategy for him to actually just slightly dial back the intensity of his sprint hurdles so he can stay more under control late.
