    On a re-watch of Rodgers/Gillespie, my take.

Rodgers has made up the stagger on GB as he and Kilty are approaching the exchange zone.

    Both anchors leave early.

Rodgers does then take some funny steps in the exchange zone, which may have worsened the gap to Gillespie.

The GB anchor is quicker than Gillespie to realize he has gone too early and decelerates just a bit sooner, giving Kilty a chance to complete his handoff before Rodgers is finally able to do so.

At least USA appears to have survived.

Why would they do that? They still wouldn't make the final if the US was DQed.

Why doesn't a grown man know that you don't look back in the 4x100! Keep your head forward, and position your hand in one place so your teammate can find it!

The US technique is to take a certain number of steps and then put your hand back to receive the baton, if the baton isn't delivered you better be looking back to find it.
Or risk the DQ for being out of the zone.
