Amazing competition! Finally a crowd worthy of a WC, even if it was just over by the HJ pit.

They even took off the covering of the upper seats to fit more people in.

I'm starting to get the faith again about Barshim eventually clearing 2.46. Yes, this was only 2.37, but wow - to summon it up from nowhere shows that mentally he is still strong.
And that takeoff distance from the bar! If they had a combine high jump/long jump competition, he would be world record holder. Goes against everything any coach has ever said to his jumpers, but it works for Barshim.

Yes but in this championship where the events finish so late at night and all the fans have to rush home it doesn't seem ideal at all. Don't think the medalists would like receiving their medals in an empty stadium. Anyway the specific comment was about the high jump. It was a moment Qatar would have been waiting for and shouldn't be in an empty stadium. Thankfully the public address didn't work so the ceremony was moved to the next day.

Amen. It was so exciting to see the home team getting this win. Almost poetic.

He's converting horizontal momentum to vertical energy. That's what the high jump is, but no one else is able to harness that much energy. Robinson from the US show the least speed toward the bar (power jumper ?)
