Reality is that at least one will lose.
I would add Cheruiyot and the US women's 4x4.

Also, I know she just lost, but I still feel like Lasitskene can be argued as a lock.

I think Lev just opened that lock.

Levchenko looked great in Minsk. She may not have the upside to threaten Lasitskene at her best yet, but the point is Lasitskene isn't looking her best at the moment. It could be a question of training cycles, but her jumping in Chorzów looked totally off her normal standard.

-Will this be the breakthrough year for Japanese 20k walkers Yamanishi and Takahashi in a championship meet?
-Can 2018 EC winner Diego Garcia Carrera continue Spain's good fortune in the walks?
-Will Massimo Stano of Italy prove that his monster race at La Coruna in June is no fluke?
-Can Eider Arevelo get back to 2017 form and win a medal?
And in the Women's walks ...
    - Who can spoil the Chinese party?
    - What event will Hong Liu choose, 20km or 50km? She's the WR-holder in both but would probably "only" share the title of favourite in the 20km with current World Champ Jiayu Yang and the Tibetan, Shenjie Qieyang.
    - Can 19yo Ecuadorian sensation Glenda Morejón back up her stunning world-leading debut in the 20km? Could she or Erica De Sena, or maybe even Sandra Arenas, become the first South American woman to win a WCh or Oly race walking medal?
    - Will we get the second sub-4 in the 50km? Hong Liu to break her WR (if competing)? Or maybe Maocuo Li or Eleonora Giorgi?

That thing around Lasitskene's knee in Minsk was not something she normally jumps with, and made me wonder a bit at the time. Did she have that in Chorzów?

I didn't notice anything, but I might have missed it.

In any case, it's not just that Lasitskene doesn't have quite as much spring (which could be explained by her being in heavy training), but her jumping is more inconsistent with misses at low heights in both Minsk and Chorzów.

This seems to be the "Will they get healthy in time" World Championships. Several potential medalists are fighting various injuries, and are trying to get healthy in time. Here are some off the top of my head:

    James - (M-400)
    E. Manangoi - (M-1500)
    Kipruto - (M-3k Sch)
    Shubenkov - (110HH)
    Samba - (400H)
    Toth - (M-50k Walk)
    Barshim - (M-HJ)
    Muir - (W-1500)
    Kipyegon - (W-1500)
    Ayana - (W-10,000)
    Ibarguen - (W- TJ & LJ)

That IS QUITE a list! Fascinating storylines for a bunch of them. Really shows you what we'd be missing if they can't compete or compete at full strength.
