    I could be wrong, but this has the feeling of when out of the blue he shocked everyone and left Stanford to take the AD job at Oberlin. Of course, he's in his mid-60's now, but I wonder if this is just a way station to something else(bigger).

    Indeed. From the article on home page:

    "He is not part of Oregon21, the local organizing committee for the World Outdoor Championships. He stepped down as president of TrackTown USA in July of 2018."

    Vin and I have crossed paths on quite a few occasions over the past five years, he is class at a level that usatf lost years ago. He actually cares about this great sport. Here is to him remaining a thorn in the side of those who donít.
