Happy birthday today (Wednesday) to an Olympic champion who died eight days after turning 79 on what would have been Jesse Owens' 70th birthday (Owens died at 66).

This athlete competed in one Olympic Games and did not compete in any of the Olympic hurdle events.

Our birthday athlete set a new Olympic record with teammates getting the silver and bronze medals.

The defending Olympic champion place fifth in this Games.

Born 115 years ago today, this person won the Olympic gold medal about one month before turning 24.

You might know that the title of this quiz refers to events in our birthday athlete's post-Olympic career.

Give it a try and name this birthday athlete.

Sabin Carr it is. Nice going, LopenUupunut. Carr, of course, won the 1928 Olympic pole vault and he was born 115 years ago today. Lee Barnes, who won the 1924 Olympic pole vault as a teenager, was fifth in Amsterdam. Carr died in 1983 and had been in the lumber business in California. Very well done, LopenUupunut.
