    Florimond Cornet

Rare to have a question about a walker, but Florimond Cornet was the #1 over 50k in the world in 1939 - some 9 minutes quicker than anyone else with 4:28:46 - what was his profession ? - don't look it up

Butler? Came from a long line of butlers, which is how he got into race walking. :-)

I couldn't resist the temptation and I looked it up. In the course of doing so, I found that he has some kind of track facility named for him, as well as a walking path. Which led me to wonder whether there is any street, building, or anything else in the US that is named for a walker. I don't know of any.

So looking it up, the USATF awards the Captain Ron Zinn Memorial Award to the racewalker of the year in the United States. No structure but I guess that counts.

I would also guess mailman, like the Canadian race walker Marcel Jobin, who was my letter carrier when I lived in Shawinigan, Quebec.
