If all of the athletes from the area could be on the Olympic/WC teams, win national championships without competition from the rest of the US, there were be more effort made.

09-16-2019 05:47 AMAs mentioned elsewhere BB got his second 22+ with 22.17 in his homeland this weekend.
Love that he also knocked out a new DT NR: 61.06 (his old NR was 59.89). Alas, he presumably now loses the auspicious alltime #1000 he had with the old mark. he has improved almost 11m since last year in DT.

09-16-2019 05:58 AMI am a fan myself, I love shot putters in general. BTW, his great if not huge improvement it's mainly because of his switch from the glide to the spin. He was a 20.50 shot putters at his best with his singular glide (quite dynamic, with a weird movement, but effective) then started spinning and improving regularly since this year when he had that massive improvement. His improvement in the discus, almost ten metres, is also quite impressive since a very few shot putters can produce good efforts in the discus. Otterdahl is a 62m discus thrower, but he practised it in the college, Crouser was a 63m thrower but is not throwing now. Mihaljevic is a good discus thrower but as for Otterdahl he was a dual thrower. This discus improvement by Bob is noteworthy.

09-16-2019 07:38 AMIt's interesting that he switched at a relatively advanced age, especially in this era when many more athletes start out with spin.
Maybe the SP rotational training gave him a free improvement in the DT? That happens for some but some struggle to handle the differences between the two.
Also, that is a repeat of his previous SP/DT PBs set on the same day back in August.
