08-31-2019 03:07 PMA year before the 1984 Olympics, I remember hearing Joe Douglas, the agent for Carl Lewis, talk about how Lewis wanted to try for four gold medals in Los Angeles. I'm sure this advanced notice helped. Things are much different now. But I'm sure Walt Murphy would know the details.

08-31-2019 03:14 PMThis has been mentioned before in other thread(s), but the 200/400 situation is made even more complicated in Doha by the insertion of that ludicrous mixed-sex 4x4 which needed to be taken into account for long sprinters.

08-31-2019 05:34 PM2011 was the year Felix tried to quadruple; she was 2nd in the 400 behind Montsho and 3rd in the 200 behind VCB and Jeter. She won two golds in the relays.
She had never before even entered the 400 in the global, but had won three world golds and two Oly silvers in the 200.

08-31-2019 06:57 PMSMU was never a thought in the eyes of the IAAF when they put the Olympic schedule together. Good to see the proactive move now and hope the IAAF will comply. A simple moving of the 400m heats from August 4th to the 5th then have the other 400 rounds move up a day would work.
I am in agreement with EGH, the rubbish mixed relays does not help things.
