The meat of the meat (the meet meat, as it were) is coming up at 3:30 ET and is live on my TV - yay!

Bowie just ran her semi in 11.15, so fingers crossed she betters that in the final and is a medal contender for Doha.

Ha! Asafa Powell just ran 10.15 in his semi, and could NOT have looked more bored doing it.

My wife, walking past the TV: What the heck is that?
Me: It's green-screen for all the CGI they will add in later (monsters attacking athletes, etc.).

She looked at me askance (I get that a lot).

I've been meaning to ask, why do Brit commentators always talk about the vertical jump with the phrase, 'she made it on the third time of asking'.
Isn't 'on the third try' a lot simpler?!

Guru! You seriously need to teach Bamidele the biomechanics of arm carriage in the 400.
He is ALL over the place!

I suspect the phrase might be an obscure throwback that originally comes from something that's nothing to do with track & field.

I know the University of Hawaii has a partly rainbow track, but not fluorescent like Madrid here!
