An undefeated Big 10 champion not making the playoffs in a 4-team format would be no different than an undefeated SEC Champion being left out in 2004 in a 2-team format which did not lead to armageddon. However, I wish the Chicago Tribune would have described a scenario in which an undefeated Big 10 champion could get left out of the playoffs rather give abstract percentages.

I which the Gophers well...but this argument will be moot after being clobbered by Penn State...

If the Golphers somehow manage to pull off the upset, I predict they will jump at least 10 spots in the CFP rankings.

If the Flecks beat the Franklins, the only question will be should they be ranked ahead of, right behind or in between Oregon and Utah.

Yep, that's how I see it too. If they jump Utah that would move them to #7 and if the jump both Oregon and Utah they would move to #6.

In no other NCAA team sport is winning your conference a prerequisite for competing for the national championship. Why should college football be any different?

If the football playoffs expanded to 68 like in basketball or 31 in cross country...that might be true...but since it doesn't there has to be some winnowing down....
