Mack Brown got all choked up and tearful on TV after Carolina beat South Carolina Saturday. I mean, come on, it was just a decent season opener for a coach with loads of miles under his belt, including 15 years at Texas. You'd think he was a ballet teacher or something whose students had just pulled off Swan Lake.

So here's my Mack Brown story to show what type of guy he is. He recently had a TKR done by Dr Mike Bolognesi at Duke. Bolo (as we call him) was a Duke resident and I helped train him and he's a great guy, and a superb total joint surgeon, The newspapers made a big thing out of the fact that Brown chose one of his former football players at UNC to do his total knee.

Bolo was on the UNC team for 4 years under Mack Brown. However, he was a walk-on all 4 years. You know how many plays Mack Brown let him play - after 4 years of sucking it up in practice and running the other team's plays for the starters - ZERO. That's right, Brown never even let him get into one game - not even for a kick return or anything - after 4 years. Disgusting.

Ya don't teach at Canoe U (an excellent VocEd choice for those who don't want to go to a real College/University) for 3 years and NOT have a soft spot for the Middies.

I know that sounds terrible but it is never otherwise on any big time football campus. Mack is par for the course on that ledger.
