Mayer definitely looked ready at the Paris DL, with two PBs out of three events, including a huge one in the SP.

unless the IAAF modifies Rule 200.2, nobody can set a decathlon WR in Doha because it will be staged on 3 days instead of 2! (1500 starts after midnight)

They can argue it's 2 days in the French time zone

In all seriousness, though, I don't see the IAAF declaring WC results invalid for statistical (record setting/ OG qualifying) purposes. There's no definition in the rules of what a day is, so they'll just come up with an explanation that it can be any 24h period.

    I suspect Mayer would prefer 48h :-)

I was talking about the definition of one day You can say that, as long as the first 5 events take place within 24 hrs. and the next 5 are in the subsequent 24 hrs., it's within the rules.

3:10 is just two legs of 50 and two of 45 each, so the winning time should definitely be faster than that.

They already changed the rule, this from the IAAF webpage: "R200.1-5 To clarify that the two consecutive days of combined events can mean two consecutive 24 hour periods"
