Happy 69th birthday today (Friday) to an Olympic champion who competed in the same event at four Olympic Games.

Our birthday athlete competed in three different events at the Olympics and won Olympic gold at the second of those four Games.

Don't worry about the hurdles for this champion's Olympic gold medal.

This person came from a family with eleven children.

You might already know that our birthday person was not born in Asia, Australia, or Europe.

Go ahead and name this champion for this third Friday of August.

That's the right answer, but what does the subject title mean?

Sorry, but I looked it up. Crawford went to Eastern Michigan University, in Ypsilanti. I thought it might be a jumble of the town in Trinidad that he was born in.

I thought it might be an anagram, too, but Ypsilanti didn't occur to me. (And I've even been to Ypsilanti.)

Happy 69th birthday today to Hasley Crawford. Crawford competed in Munich (DNF 100 with pulled hamstring), Montreal (gold in the 100 and 8th in the 200), Moscow (didn't make the 100 or relay final), and Los Angeles (didn't make the 100 final). Nice job JumboElliott. Yes, Crawford went to school in Ypsilanti, Michigan.
