Brahms's A German Requiem and Wagner's Das Rheingold both premiered in 1869.
When it comes to '69 music, to paraphrase Keats, that is all I know on earth and all I need to know. :-)Last edited by tandfman; 08-15-2019 at 02:25 PM.

In 1669

1n 1559
Filippo Azzaiolo burst on the scene with Il terzo libro delle villotte del fiore alla padoana con alcune napolitanae e bergamasche

08-15-2019 07:10 PMI don't believe I've ever heard of three of Atticus's 1969 list and three of his oldies list (including Valliant).

08-15-2019 07:21 PMIn 1969 I was 12. The Jets won the Super Bowl (I was a Jets fan at the time), The Mets won the World Series, we went to the Moon and Woodstock happened.
I think when a boy is 12 it may be the perfect age. The songs listed above, excepting the BB King tune, all bring back stirring and vivid memories of that summer and year.

08-15-2019 09:07 PMI think I am out of place here. In 1969 I was 38, an oil company executive living in Canada and I do not remember that I even knew Woodstock was happening.

08-15-2019 10:26 PMGreat list! I was 15, and as with all of us, I will always be drawn to the music of my youth. Dad had just retired from 20 years in the Navy, and we moved that summer from CA to NY (Long Island). We stopped for a couple of weeks to see Grandma and Grandpa in Walton, NY. Dad had back surgery (I think in Oneonta), and his roomie during recovery was a young man who had injured himself at Woodstock. He had lots of stories!
