as always, an Oliver hit piece is well worth the 20 minutes.... Guinness part is about the last 5 minutes and if you've been a fan of the book through the years, you might be disappointed to learn what a tacky commercial enterprise it has become

I was a huge fan of the book when I was a kid, and what a thrill it was to find out later in life that the McWhirters were track and field statisticians (Norris was an original member of the ATFS Executive Committee)

Norris was also the announcer at Oxford in 1954 when Roger Bannister ran the 4 minute mile. He built up the tension by announcing some of the various records that R.G. Bannister had set (subject to ratification) before adding "in a time of 3 minutes...." The rest of the time was drowned out by cheering.
