Happy birthday today (Sunday) to an Olympic champion who was born 81 years ago and won Olympic medals in two Olympic Games.

Our birthday athlete won those two Olympic medals in Europe and Asia, but wasn't born in either of those two continents.

This champion shares the same initials as another athlete who won an Olympic medal at the same Olympics where our birthday person won Olympic gold.

The other athlete (with the same initials) competed in a similar event and came from a country which borders our birthday athlete's country.

You might already know that our birthday athlete and this other athlete (same initials) won a medal of the same color (not gold), but four years apart.

Please think about it and then name our birthday athlete for this first Sunday of August.

Happy birthday (81) today to Hayes Jones, winner of the 110 hurdles in Tokyo (1964). Very good, bambam1729. In Tokyo, Harry Jerome (Canada) took the bronze medal in the 100. Jones won the bronze in Rome (1960) in the 110 hurdles. I was lucky to have seen Hayes Jones run a few times and I can tell you that he often won his races with his quick start. Once he cleared that first hurdle, it was difficult catching him.
