Nike made a huge mistake for not offering a contract she would accept.

Probably the biggest blunder since dropping Meb.

They literally did a replay that focused exclusively on Felix, the far-away third place finisher. Then they interviewed her only, not Wimbley. Only God knows what they will do tonight after Allyson fails to win or possibly miss the team.

Allyson Felix is great but she has long been overhyped and has enjoyed a status above what she deserves. She is in that mix of all time greats that include people like Merlene, VCB and SAFP, but the way the Americans go on about her you'd swear she's is above them all and is the GOAT (which she isn't).

As one who typically is irritated by over focus on the wrong thing, I didn't find the focus on the woman who's been one of the faces of the sport in the US for the past decade out of place at all.

hardcore fans don't like to hear things like this, but I'll bet the focus-on-Felix material garnered more fans for the sport among the non-followers than did just about anything competitive that happened in the meet yesterday.

If she hadn't been pregnant she would still be the focus.

She's not overhyped. You're just not a fan. It is typical for the star product to get a lot of spot light, and she has been that for USA track and field for a while now, so OF COURSE she'll be the focus in American media... Especially after dark era of female dopers like Marion Jones and Kelly White.

Sydney will take on that role soon.

Right. But instead of baby stories we'd be seeing endless replays of Miller-Uibo's Rio dive for gold lol
