Thatís a fair comparison, but in baseball(or other major sports) there is more domestic competition and more accountability. If you arenít improving as a coach, you are losing your job. There is pressure for results to a greater extent.

What we have with this is almost a Monopoly. If youíre sponsored by Nike, you go to Dennis Mitchell. If you are adidas, itís Brauman. Itís been these two for probably close to a decade now, and Iíd argue itís as much for their proximity to big names(Gay formerly for Brauman, now Lyles, Gatlin for Mitchell) than it is continued development as weíve seen so many promising collegiates flame out and this could be part of the reason why.

19.78 for Lyles. 20.02 for CC. Soon as they got to the straight, Lyles went turbo.

Bednarek pulls hammie near the end of the turn. Finishes without assistance, limping up the track, out of his lane but never running to the inside of his lane and never interfering with someone else. 45.34

So Rodney Rowe makes the team in 7th? Bednarek finishes in 45 seconds and technically just misses out on the team.

When is the last time this happened in a US sprint event?

Sorry for Bednarek...he was next to Coleman and Lyles too.
I think he would have gotten that third spot but not for being injured.

He does not have the WC standard of 20.40, nor does anyone outside of Lyles, Coleman, Rowe and Bednarek

What happens if someone who placed higher later does hit the standard?
