    Centro is the ONLY distance guy that I don't mind letting the pace dawdle. His finish is that good.

    Josh Thompson really surprised me...who would have picked him for 3rd? And he had a blazing 1:50.33 final 800m...faster than Engels (1:50.65) and Centro (1:50.44).

    Looks like he might have a future as a pro.

    not to denigrate his effort in any way, but age 26 and with a PR of 3:38.21......

    I was sitting/standing right next to Salazar/NOP guys (right by the PV). They were going nuts and then really celebrating. But it did not seem too much of a surprise to them. Not, Engels did not almost give up by celebrating, and he said as much [I knew that Centro was right behind and would be coming as hard as he could]. He was continuing to hold off a slowly closing Centro, no video to watch going to the finish. Also, those 51s looked even better to me because it looked like that did not fully ramp up until less than 300 to go. The rest of the runners let Engels and Centro control the end of the race going two wide.
