    Were the conditions poor for long jumping? 8.12 with a 1.1 following wind seems a bit "meh" (as Atticus mentioned) for a WC Trials competition.

    I checked Wikipedia, and Carl Lewis jumped 8.13 (26' 8") shortly after graduating from high school.

    While this competition would be of an impressive quality for the national championships of any other country, I can't remember a men's LJ in a US trials of a lower level.

    That was a non-Olympic and Worlds year so not a trial.
