System test? The times they're showing seem far too good to be real.

I didn't know that much about Solomon Simmons, so I was looking to see what the sum of his PR marks were. Used the USATF multis calculator to enter in marks. And then I noticed the points for these marks were different then the marks showing up in the pop-up page for the athlete in the results page of these championships. I went to look for the official tables from IAAF, and you had to go to a press release, then then fill out a form to download, blah blah blah.

Looks like the calculator is right, but the pop up is wrong. The question is why?
The scores in the pop-up are based on the IAAF Scoring Tables of Athletics (the "Hungarian tables", intended for comparing scores across events), not the decathlon scoring tables. I think this is intentional rather than a mistake, it looks a bit odd in the context of a decathlon but makes more sense for non-decathletes.

After 3 events: Solomon Simmons is way ahead of his 8130 PB from earlier this year. Ziemek's on solid pace. Devon Williams is well ahead of his SB, but he needs to be because his SB isn't that good. Filip had a good 100 but was off a bit in the SP. Harrison Williams also had a good 100 but was off a bit in the LJ. Golubovic started with two PBs but his SP was worse than in his previous decathlons this year.

(tl;dr version: strong start from Simmons.)

Ziemek is still the favorite, but if Simmons can keep this pace up he could seriously challenge for the win.

The HJ will be very interesting because both Ziemek (213) and Simmons (197) set their PBs earlier this year, and one or both could easily be quite some way off those marks. Apart from the always-unpredictable hurdles and pole vault, this is the event I'd look to for a potential big swing; if Simmons sets another PB here the fight for 1st is really on.
