Happy birthday today (Tuesday) to an Olympic champion who was born on a Tuesday 45 years ago this day.

Our birthday person owns five World Championship gold medals as well as one World Indoor gold medal.

You might know this athlete competed in two Olympic Games and came up with a complete set of Olympic medals (gold, silver, & bronze).

No hurdles were involved in any of those medals.

Someone out there knows our birthday athlete for this penultimate Tuesday of July.

Go ahead and name this Olympic champion.

Happy birthday today (45) to Maurice Greene. Very well done, tandfman. Maurice won the Olympic 100 in Sydney (2000) and he anchored the winning four by 100 relay in Sydney as well. He took the 100 bronze in Athens (2004) and he anchored the silver medal four by 100 relay team in Athens to complete his set of Olympic medals.

Now, this brings up a question we have had here in the past. How many track and field athletes with a color in their name can you remember? The athletes do not have to be Olympians and the color can be in their first and/or last names. The athletes can be from the past or current performers.

Let's see if we can come up with at least ten names. We already have 1. Maurice Greene and I will give 2. Ed Red. Who is next?

Are white and black colors? If so, there are lots of them.

Yes, we count black and white and I should have mentioned that we can only name a color once. For instance, green, red, and brown can no longer be mentioned.

We now have: 1. Maurice Greene, 2. Ed Red, 3. Chris Brown, 4. Roger Black, and 5. Kelli White. Five more to make ten.

OK, with that rule in mind, we now have five--Green, Red, Brown, Black and White.
