The Washington Post has published an article about Des Moines by a DC-based free-lance writer:

Headline: Des Moines is on the move with an emerging food and cocktail scene

NOTE - These URLs are for the same article, which appeared on a number of newspapers' websites. I'm including them here because some websites disappear (I don't know how long the Alton Telegraph will be around) and others delete old material. I'm posting this for my future reference, and those of others, in the event the NCAA or USATF championships return to Des Moines. I'm sure Drake Relays regulars have their fave places and know their way around the local restaurant scene, but I'm a Penn guy . . .

(I also know that restaurants open and close all the time, but I figure this would be a good piece to look at if and when i return. It happens that Mrs. tandfman and I had lunch in July in the first place mentioned in the article--St. Kilda's--and we enjoyed it.)

St. Kilda's has a great breakfast, too!

Breakfast was included in our hotel rate, so we never did explore the brekkie scene.
