    But TBH, with an 8:29 you're not going to be competitive at the WC. It's simply an event with relatively little depth at global level.

    So? What's the harm to GBR in letting him go to Doha? If it's a money issue, at least give him the option to pay his own expenses for whatever the host organization doesn't cover.

    At the 2017 WC, 8:25.86 made it to the final, which is well within the realm of possibility for an 8:29 runner.

    Phil Norman isnít the only one to be excluded, Amelia Strickler, Jessie Knight and Cameron Fillery suffered the same fate. Charlie Myers had the standard but was selected. All of these athletes have produced PBs this year, Fillery 6 PBs including a medal at the under23 euros
