    an e-mail I got

20-1/2 ******Elizabeth Deen (Allen Jay Prep, Greensboro, NC). 12 years old wind was 1.0. Saw the video and it was a PERFECt jump, but OMG, she looks like she is 18. VERY mature. Breaks old 12 year old record of 18-9.

Probably 6.10, which is what the timing company's results say.

That girl is 12 - what? No girl ever did ever look like that at 12 when I was growing up.

There's something in the water. In a Facebook T&F group a few months ago, a mom posted a question and photo of her hurdler/jumper daughter who's 12 years old and 5'9"/156 lbs.

But a lot of the early-age record holders are kids who simply mature earlier than their peers. That's one reason why there's little overlap between all-time lists at age-group and senior level.
