Meanwhile.....Pakistan can possibly knock NZ out...but it is not likely....

How Pakistan can achieve the 'impossible'...

Test Match Special scorer Andy Zaltzman: "The absolute key for Pakistan is to win the toss because if they bowl first - even if they bowl Bangladesh out for nought they couldn't overtake on run-rate.

"They have to bat first and score 480, then bowl out Bangladesh for 160. They need to win by about 320 runs."

Dull in the sense when it was obvious England was going to win it really didn't matter...there have been great matches where it came down to the last few overs.... Windies and SA one of the best....but England's batting was entertaining...

I was following the text on the BBC and they seemed rather bored with it all when NZ lost early wickets and seemed to be going through the motions...

By my calculations Pakistan “only” needs to win by about 152 runs.

..but I don't think anyone agrees with you... also Pakistan is down almost a run an over to NZ....after 350 overs counting all told.... thus....this is about right.

If Pakistan win their last round-robin match against Bangladesh on Friday, they will be tied on points with New Zealand. However, the deficit in net run rate may prove too hard to overcome.

If Pakistan bat first against Bangladesh, they need to win by at least 308 runs to overtake New Zealand on net run rate. If they score 308 runs and dismiss Bangladesh for 0, they qualify for the semis. If they score 350 and win by 312 runs, they qualify. If they score 400 and win by 316 runs, they qualify. If they score less than 308, they cannot qualify.

No ODI has been won by more than 300 runs in history.

Pakistan cannot qualify if they bat second as they would need to overhaul the target in less than zero balls, a mathematical impossibility.

The toss is the key....Pakistan lose and end up batting second they lose...But Pakistan going first could be exciting as they have to hit boundaries consistently from the start....needing over 9 runs an over....
