Admittedly I havent followed the selection procedures closely for Pan Am Jrs, so can someone tell me why USATF didnt just select the first two in each event at nationals last week(like they've done in the past for Jr international teams)? Makes too much sense perhaps?

I believe that's is what they are doing. The controversy has to do with the Pan-American Games, not the Pan-Am Juniors. Two different meets.

Correct. Normally the team would be selected at USAs, but the rosters are due today and USAs are not for another month...

Updates from LRC: an 'intern' made a mistake compiling data resulting in this mess. But this is not an official statement from USATF.

Do any of the full time employees do anything there?

So first of all, that's probably not true, second, does not excuse the bungling of notifications about athletes regarding their status on the team and notification of last night's arbitration.

Got it. Thanks. I guess the fact this brouhaha emerged right after the Jr meet had me in the mind that this was about the Pan Am Jrs qualifying.

I gotta start paying attention lol

Was it ever a big deal with respect to track and field?
