Jordan Gray will be attempting to break the American Record in the Women's Decathlon at the Women's Decathlon Association National Championships tomorrow and Sunday at College of San Mateo.
The action begins at 10am Pacific!
She just placed 7th in the NCAA heptathlon recently with 5846 and has pole vault and discus PRs of 3.65m and 40.98m.
The current American Record is 7577 set by Tiffany Lott-Hogan in 2000. No woman has scored over 7000 points in the decathlon since 2006.
Also be on the lookout for Amy Backel who is a threat to break the American decathlon bests in the javelin and shot put.
Ashtin Zamzow is thinking about joining us for the throws... maybe even the discus! She is here supporting Wolf Mahler who is making his return to the decathlon, he will be leading a small men's decathlon field.

06-22-2019 03:51 AMOn paper she should easily get the record as it demonstrates in the table below
Event Performance Score
100m... 12.44sec..... 870
Discus 40.98m......... 673
Pole Vault 3.65m...... 824
Javelin... 39.97m...... 667
400m... 58.17sec..... 774
100h... 13.83sec..... 1003
Long Jump 6.45m...... 991
Shot.... 14.66m......... 838
High Jump 1.73m....... 891
1500m... 5:22.19....... 686
Total 8217
However, as we know from the men decathlon is much more than the combine results of the 10 events and Grey may still be tired after her recent Heptathlon in the NCAA final.

06-22-2019 05:39 PMAs discussed before, I am a HOOJ wDec fan and hope she does it, so it can generate some interest in the event. We're long overdue for Multis equality, despite the heel-draggers who fear their particular prospects will be diminished.

6.18 LJ for Jordan, tying the Dec LJ world record!
Shot put was well off her best, 12.86m, but Amy Bakel went 13.82 for US #2 all-time and world #3 all-time. Zamzow took a standing throw and went 11.67m.

1.65m HJ =#5 AT USA, and 57.41 400 #3 AT USA.
4146 points after day 1! She is up 64 points over Lott-Hogan on the Day 1 score.
Looking at tomorrow's events, Lott-Hogan was the better hurdler (though Gray is decent), Gray's PR is a little better in the discus, Lott-Hogan is quite a bit better in the javelin, and Gray is quite a bit better in the 1500. Which brings us to the pole vault, where if Gray has a good day, she will be up by quite a bit, but her marks have been pretty variable this year, there could be a pretty big swing in points depending on how that goes.
Should be fun!

14.10 hurdles, 39.09m discus, things are moving along nicely!
Pole vault is underway now, still a bit before Jordan will come in. You can follow along via the links in the first post!

Lifetime PR of 3.71 for Jordan in the PV! She is well up on the record now, should be fine unless disaster strikes in the final two events.
Brysun Stately vaulted 3.91 for #3 all-time USA and Gray's 3.71 is #6 all-time USA.
