Beer, wine sales now legal at college stadiums in North Carolina

Plenty of facilities could host these meets. Weather is no worse than any other place.

Good reason to NOT hold any there. I HATE having to sit near some sloshed fan, who has to regale everyone with his knowledge (sic) of the sport.

Sadly not consuming alcohol does NOT prevent such pontificating anyway. Not surprisingly, I'm all for beer and field & track as natural complements

    To paraphrase Bill Cosby,

I said to a guy, "Tell me, what is it about (alcohol) that makes it so wonderful," and he said, "Because it intensifies your personality." I said, "Yes, but what if you're an asshole?"

In about 2000 the Junior Olympics were held in July at the NC State track in Raleigh. Scott Davis was the announcer and I was covering the meet in my day job as the "team doctor". I told Scott I would meet him before the meet started - about noon, and we would grab dinner afterwards. Now remember, Scott was from Los Angeles and California - usually considered a warm climate.

Scott's first comment to me that day, "Jesus Christ, how do you people live in this weather?" It was a typical mid-summer Raleigh-Durham day, nothing unusual at all - about 90-95 degrees, high humidity and it poured rain for about 20 minutes at about 4 PM.

So "no worse than any other place" may depend on your definition of that.

Totally agree with Atticus. This is exactly why I stopped attending most sporting events.
