Dang! Mondo looks like the giant next to the other three. Well, maybe not the giant, but the biggest. Bubka would look like the giant if he were in the pic. :-)

Lisek would look like an ubergiant next to all of them, but I'm still not sure all that bulk actually does him good when it comes to propelling his body upwards.

Seemed to be just fine today. I think people often confuse bulk with muscularity. Strength to weight ratio is all that matters, and I think Mondo (and R LaVill) could use a little more 'bulk' in this context. Didn't seem to bother Bubka and he was solid!

Mondo had a heartbreaking miss at 6.02 today. He seemed to be over and I think his arm brushed it or something.

And Braz out of nowhere with a big jump again. He had some decent attempts at 6.02 as well.

Lisek's first two attempts at 6.06 were VERY good attempts!

And that came at the end of a long competition, when you would have expected him to lose a bit of motivation after he already won the thing and set a NR. He's on fire right now. Sure, with Mondo, Kendricks et al. you can't hang the gold around his neck yet, but after the last two DLs you'd have to consider him the no. 1 Doha favorite as of now.

I think Mondo is the favorite. Lisek barely cleared 6.02 while Mondo had some serious height on it. Last week at 6.01 too. Though Lisek is on fire.

    Doha should be insane:

Mondo, Morgunov , Kendricks, Lisek, Renaud is getting healthy, Braz is back! Nilsen at 5.95 too.

We really could see five men over 6 meters in a meet soon. Hope the weather is excellent in Doha!

The problem is, of course, is that Doha is ELEVEN weeks away and PVers tend to be cyclic; they're hot for a while and then not. Kendricks is not hot now, Lisek is and Mondo will just keep getting better. I would certainly consider Lisek-Mondo-Kendricks as the co-faves, but who knows who'll be hot in two and a half months . . . Braz again? Is Morgunov out? RLaVill can certainly get hot. Nilsen again? So many moving parts!!

The problem with Kendricks is that he seems to have less top-end than the others, at his best he's highly consistent at 59x but he's only ever cleared 600 once. Lisek has done 602 and 601 this month and was very close to 606 today, Mondo has already jumped 605 at a big meet, even Braz cleared 603 at the Olympics.

I'm generally bullish on Nilsen (have been for a long time), but I think he still needs another year or two of development to make a splash on the big stage.

I thought the air conditioning was going to make it perfect. Whatever that means.
