It would be similar to the ATP vs the WTA.
I guess..it's hard to imagine how popular a women's only meet would do....maybe a one off would work but I wouldn't bet on it long term....but considering track is hardly that popular now not sure how women's only could be much worse...

Comparative available revenue to distribute justifies a greater amount to men.. but, in light of womens's success, I believe women's share should be favorably disproportionate

Men's T&F is now on the wane... 289 men's DI programs to 340 for women. Unfortunate trend likely to continue.

That's all about Title IX and Football scholarship numbers. That doesn't mean it's less popular.
It certainly does seem, however, that spectator counts at normal college meets are heavily reliant on the 'friends and family' plan.

Which has little to nothing to do with the popularity of men's over women's or vice-versa.

If we could track down the attendance numbers for the men's and women's finals days from NCAA outdoors that might be a useful data point.

Not sure that will tell you much....anyone in town for the meet isn't just going to go sightseeing on the women's days and attend the men's or vice versa....

Interestingly NBCSN today was showing a women's only Formula One race today....the crowd size was rather underwhelming...
