For me, and many other Brits/English the combination of the Daily Mail and Piers Morgan sounds like a marriage made in hell!

I think the kind of English person who was actually offended would be the kind who considers the word "limey" a grievous national insult.

I hear you, but in view of the controversy that the tea-sipping gesture seemed to stir up in some quarters, as noted on previous posts here, I enjoyed reading Morgan's piece and I thought I'd share it. Since I had not seen the incident, and don't follow the sport at all, I had wondered if the whole thing might have been, as you've suggested, a tempest in a teapot. (Ouch! did I really write that?)

That's what I thought she was doing when I first saw it. Thought it was a statement on legalizing weed, or something.

Slightly belated mention for the fact that Tuesday's semi-final had the biggest peak TV audience in the UK so far this year (11.7m).

While USA dominated most of the 1st half, they are starting to get frustrated. While not as much as in hockey, a hot keeper can lead to beating a superior team. That's how the USA beat Brazil in the 2008 Beijing Olympics (and the US men beat Brazil once). Big Kasey Keller fan, btw.

2-0 and it was not that close. Rose Lavelle's goal was for the ages.
