    Alan Turing - sometimes referred to as "the father of modern computing".

    Noted for his major role in breaking the Nazi's Enigma code during WWII.

    Sadly he was homosexual at a time when it was still illegal in the UK. He died after eating an apple laced with poison. As a tribute to him a certain US computer firm called itself Apple.
