Jim Ryun still holds the American junior record for the two-mile (8:25.2) which he set at the 1966 Coliseum Relays in Los Angeles (May 13). I have tried to find a video of that race, but haven't had much luck. Any ideas?

The Pre Classic (20 days from today) will feature a two-mile run with an excellent field. Ryun's American junior record is now 53 years old (I know the two-mile is not run much any more).

Thanks for any help with a video of that 1966 race.

Ryun ran 8:25.2 for the two-mile at the Coliseum Relays in May of 1966. About three weeks later in June, he won the mile at the Compton Invitational (L.A. Coliseum) in 3:53.7 (fastest counter-clockwise mile at that time). Ryun was a freshman at Kansas then. Thanks again, paw.

Hayes won two Olympic gold medals in one Olympic Games. Ryun won one Olympic silver medal in three Olympic Games.
