Happy 48th birthday today (Sunday) to an Olympic champion who won Olympic gold at the second of three Olympic Games.

Our birthday athlete also won gold at the World Juniors and another gold at the World Indoor Championships.

This athlete's first child has the name of a flower.

From our birthday athlete's birthplace to the Olympic stadium where this individual won Olympic gold is approximately 4,370 miles (7,033 km).

You might know that our birthday person won a bronze medal at the World Championships.

None of these medals came in any of the hurdles.

The father of our birthday champion was a fencer and the mother was a gymnast.

Can you name our birthday athlete for this second Sunday of June? Please give it a go.

I think it is Jean Galfione, the french pole vaulter who
win the gold medal in Atlanta, in 1996.

Happy birthday to Jean Galfione who was the first french vaulter
    at 6 meters, in 1999 !

Very good, jmdjmd, it is Jean Galfione who turned 48 yesterday (Sunday). Galfione didn't make the final in Barcelona (1992) or in Sydney (2000), but he did win the gold medal in Atlanta (1996).
