Happy 52nd birthday today (Wednesday) to an Olympic champion who competed in one Olympic Games and only one event.

Injury limited our birthday athlete to only one Olympics.

This champion won that gold medal on a Wednesday at the age of 21, but not in the hurdles.

You might already know that our birthday person had eleven sisters and only one brother.

Our birthday athlete set an Olympic record in winning the gold medal.

Please name this champion with a birthday on the first Wednesday of June.

Happy birthday today to Joe DeLoach. Nice job, KDFINE. DeLoach won the U.S. Olympic Trials at the 200 in Indianapolis (1988), so he had to be one of the favorites going into the Seoul Olympic Games. He came through in the final 60 meters in Seoul to pass Carl Lewis and win the gold medal. Some believe he would have won again in Barcelona (1992), but DeLoach suffered some injuries which prevented any other Olympic competition.

I have just realised that the 1988, 1992 and 1996 Olympic Men's 200m champs were all Americans born in 1967 (DeLoach, Marsh & Johnson). They actually did do it in the order of oldest to youngest.
