Is A&M's K. Johnson and Izu injured? Iowa looks very strong here. I'd say it was smart scratching Montgomery from UH relay SF duty.

Western Kentucky, first over the line in heat 2, DQd. Arkansas, which was fourth over the line in that same heat, gets the last q.

Re-watched the race and can think of a few possible reasons for the DQ, but the camerawork, or lack, foiled any conclusion.

Since there was no rule referenced in the results it's tough to tell. The only possibility I can think of is on the first turn of the last leg when WKU and SC were right with each other but the camera didn't follow them around the turn and something happened there. That or maybe one of the legs moved order after established by the incoming runner on one of the legs.

Thought the same, in same order of likelihood. The DQ was definitely the result of a protest by another team. The WKU coach gave a quote about it that appears both at the school website and the local newspaper but he just said that there was a protest that resulted in DQ. Did not give reason.

Too bad. Team ran very well and the DQ, whatever it was, did not give them the margin by which they qualified.

I have heard it was a lane violation that was protested by another school.
