06-06-2019 03:44 AMOne guy who looked really good that no one is talking about is Clayton Fritsch. He has gone from a solid high school vaulter to an elite level in two years. It wasn't a fluke that he came third in this competition. Excited to see what he will do going forward.

Why do you think most of his classes are online? I doubt any of them are.
He also has a wife and a kid and a job, on top of being a full-time student and a world class pole vaulter.
They are playing the long game with his development and not rushing anything. Derek Miles knows what he is doing
It will be hard for any world class college athlete to compete at Worlds and then turn around and be ready for the NCAA Indoor season + NCAA Outdoor + Olympics.
Worlds being late is much more doable for the post-collegiate elites who can skip indoors if they need more base training.
