Thank you for corrected my maths on his age. He doesn't turn 20 until March next year. His times are also impressive in that he's not simply a sprinter type, but rather he's got the hops and levers for the whole lot. More of a Mayer than a Warner. Doubt he'll get to Voss' mark however.

Here's a nice piece doing side by side comparison with Mayer at same age (both WJ champs): https://www.iaaf.org/news/feature/as...hlon-australia

Another PR (just) from Moloney in 110mH (14.24) to stay in second, with Warner getting further away from field (13.64). Only other sub-14 was Urena with 13.99.

If I were coaching I would give it serious consideration. "We" don't have 3 faster guys outside of DeGrasse. Heck we don't have 1.

Aaron Brown and Gavin Smellie would probably disagree.

Meanwhile, Warner has 8014 points after 9 events. If he equalled his 1500 PR, he'd fall one point short of his decathlon PR.

KJT has upped her PR to 6813.

Can Moloney break 8200? What is his 1500 PR?

His PR is 4:42.65. That would give him 8161.

He ran only 5:03.20. Finishes with 8038 points.

    Edited to add actual result.

He ended up at 8711; his PR is the 8795 he scored at Gotzis last year.

Well that puts him at #6 on the U20 list.

And #2 this year. For this to happen with senior implements several years after the U20 Champs switched to lighter SP & DT & lower 110mH is, on the face of it, a little surprising. Then again, it is not a World Champs year at U20 level and the 2 decathletes concerned are an American and an Australian and therefore won't be at the European U20s this year so would see less point in doing a U20 spec dec.
