The second of the 14 Diamond League meets will be held in Shanghai, China on May 18 (Saturday). Unfortunately I won't be there in person, but I would love to see the men's 400 hurdles. Right now, I'm giving the edge to Abderrahman Samba, but after watching Rai Benjamin at Mt. SAC last month, I know it's going to be a great race.

If I had to bet, I would say the winning time won't be a world record (46.78), but with these two athletes, anything is possible on May 18. It's also possible neither of them will win that race in China.

I can't wait for the next Diamond League meet.

Only Charlton Heston could answer that and he's not speaking.

Salwa Eid Naser and Sydney McLaughlin in the 400! :-D

Is it too early to clamor for Sanya's AR to go down? >:-P

I think it might be a little too early for that, but who knows? We'll see in just about a week.

With Shaunae Miller-Uibo going 49.05 and Michael Norman going 43.45, I would not be surprised if Syd aims for the AR right away, especially if she doesn't plan to run that many flat 400s this year.

Um. Her PR is 50.07, right? At her level, let's just say that taking almost a 1.5 seconds off her PR would be a bit of a geometric progression.

Don't get me wrong, it'd be awesome. But... c'mon.

I'll be surprised if Sydney runs 49.70 (much less 48.70).

That will depend on how hard either Syd or Salwa wants to push the race; and if Salwa is in shape for 49.xx and Syd wants to beat her, I would not put it past one or both to challenge Shaunae's WL.
