I mentioned this in the "gremlins" thread, but thought it merited it's own. Why? Because I'm a proud dad and it's Fathers' Day! My daughter, a Germlin (age under 8) started her first year in track this February, and ended up with a long jump PR of 10' 4.25", or 3.15m (plus a lot of high 9' leaps). She ended the season ranked first in the conference here in LA, CA.

Anyway, that's my latest contribution to the sport. We'll hope for more in the future!

PS: She also comments how her friend "wind" helps her at the meets. I leave the calculations to others.

Do we list her under the American or Canadian elementary school lists?

I guess it could be both! From limited research I did, it seems she was ranked in the top 10 of her age class in the US! I didn't check up north.

Nice! Was that with a regular board or a takeoff zone?

Maybe Aaron uses the on-screen keyboard plus a backup virtual keyboard so as to mimimize the bashing of the actual (physical) ! key?

A regular board. She had several jumps in the 2.9x metre range where she took off well before the board.

Kicking this post! Yesterday, my daughter (now a Bantam -- age 9) long jumped 4.58m (!!), or 15' 0.5" for ye non-metric types. According to the USATF website, the national age class record is 15' 8.75". No idea how this ranks in Canada!
