C'mon now. I can't be the only one on the BBB (Bob Berteme Bandwagon)!

    A 22m SPer from LUXEMBOURG!

We even have a slogan - "Bob's Your Uncle", because he's so relatable - just a guy from a small place that beats the odds and becomes a world-class Shot Putter. Bob is the name of an ordinary guy; he's relatable - not a preppie like 'Ryan', or a Party-Guy like 'Darian', or Tomas (whoya trying to fool? You're just a Tom).

Here he is in his full glory.

P.S. Lest you think this is satirical, I am full-on serious. This is a great story-line for T&F.

    Some data for context.

Luxembourg (LUX) has an estimated population of 614k living in an area of 2,586 km2 (~1000 miles2).

It's hard to compare that precisely to other places but based on the "urban area" measure, that's approximately the population of Bristol or Sheffield (UK), Boston or El Paso (USA), The Hague (NED) or Gold Coast/Tweed Heads (AUS).

I couldn't find out how many athletes they have competing in total but Road to Doha has only two qualified athletes:
    • "Big" Bob Bertemes, of course
    • Ben Sathre who is a Q with his 2:15:11 marathon in Houston earlier this year.

For those interested, here is the national records list as at 10 June this year:

While it's not a perfect comparison to LUX national records, I pulled the Gold Coast club's records out of curiosity.

By my count LUX had superior Men's records 12 to 9, lost the Women's 10 to 12 for an overall win of 22-21 with MPV being a tie.

From what I judged "international standard" performance, Gold Coast was the winner, Men 4 to 3, Women 5 to 2, for 9 to 5 overall.

For "international medal standard" performances, GC 1M, 1F (both actual) and LUX, only Bertemes (potential).
