It is Mexico City and it's not anyone from the field events. This person was born on a continent that begins with the letter "A".

I'm thinking Africa. I'll have a guess - Naftali Temu who, amazingly, remains Kenya's only male Olympic 10000m champion.

It might be anyone: Hines, Smith, Evans, Doubell, Keino, Gammoudi, Temu, Wolde, to mention just a few.

Happy birthday today (yesterday in Australia) to Ralph Doubell (74). Very nice work, dukehjsteve. Most of you know that Doubell won the men's 800 in Mexico City in 1968. That happened over 50 years ago.

I've just finished the book, and also the new Fosbury book. The Doubell one was more interesting because I knew almost nothing about him, but the Fosbury book was better written and also had a lot of detail I had been unaware of ... I recommend both.
