Which is what opera is to me, but I can still appreciate the 'objective' talent.

I don't like opera singing but also appreciate the ability of the performers to sing.

Axl Rose can't sing to the point in which I will listen to Guns and Roses performing as they are terrific but the vocals I immediately have to turn it off.

Freddie Mercury, on the other hand, had a magnificent voice.

Not only could he hit notes no one else could, he could change inflection in mid-note, from growl to soprano. But you'd have to open your mind to appreciate his hard rock.

Interesting, Makes it harder to understand why he sounds so awful.

The same reason the Three Tenors sounded boring to me - just not my cuppa tea. I don't especially like Axl when he just growls the lyrics, anyone can do that, but when he wants to be melodic, no one has the range or talent he does.

This nominated documentary looks rather compelling:

rest of post cut; intent of my posting was not to start a political dialogue, just reference a scary bit of history.

I am probably the least qualified person on this board to rank movies but this is pretty interesting and certainly can make for discussion - https://www.vulture.com/article/best...vies-ever.html

at the end of that set of choices, the authors go for their choices of best movie that didn't win each year (obviously they thought some of their choices should have won)

It is fantastic cinema, wonderful propaganda as it should be and OBrien would be proud, it was Truly compelling!

In the sequel they should add a proper "2min-hate" sequence against that horrible subversive Goldstein.
