He will jump at least 5.90. That would be an indoor PR for him. PRing at Reno has always been very important for him. He proudly claims that he has PRed everytime he has gone to Reno. Last year it was an indoor PR only.

I wouldnt be surprised for him to take shots at 6 meters. It would be very Mondo of him to try and take out the 5.98 by Lawrence Johnson.

Also while we are making predictions Sondre Guttorsmen looks amazing. It wouldnt shock me to see a 5.80 out of him. Early prediction but at Doha I think we could see the first meet ever with two people over 6.10, and if not Doha then Tokyo.
The mPV is a thing of beauty right now. The current world record holder is still strong. There are a bunch of people who are active with 6.0m jumps and more coming on.

I'm smelling an Auto-correct, but yeah, Renaud had better stay Urgent in his quest to remain WR-holder much longer!

Lavillenie is certainly still a factor, but I don't see him breaking the WR again. But he'll surely be determined to finally take a world title after five consecutive minor medals.

There was a recent meme on the topic. Apparently the creator of autocorrect had recently died: “may he rust in piss”....

Understandably, a lot of attention is being focused on Mondo but I'm curious to see how Lisa Gunnarsson progresses under Greg's tutelage.

Any live results for the meet? Or do I remember it being mentioned in previous years that so much goes on at the meet, live results are almost logistically impossible?

    That was Mondo's result?
If so, I sure hope he did it 9 more times in half an hour.

I'm OK with a meh initial outing. The WCs are over EIGHT months away.

edit - oh, I see that's true (at end of article)

In his eagerly anticipated 2019 debut, Armand Duplantis, the 2018 IAAF Rising Star award winner and European champion, topped 5.51m on his first try but topped out at his next to bow out of the competition at 5.71m.

He had lots of height on all three of his 5.71 attempts, just managed to nick it off somehow.

Let me dig around and see if I can find videos, I am sure approximately 50% of the several thousand in attendance posted them online
