So what was that talk about Mondo running out of goals? He hasn't even started to achieve his major ones.

Maybe "goals" was the wrong choice of words. What I'm saying is that for the next 3 months, just as has been the case for the last 2 months, Mondo will frequently be jumping by himself at the end of competitions, at which point the bar was automatically be raised to 5.92 before last Friday. He won't be chasing that carrot in Birmingham next weekend. All athletes at all levels want to win titles, but the elite up-and-coming athletes I've known have also set performance goals for themselves at the beginning of the season. If Mondo secures the NCAA title with a jump of 5.77, what height do you suppose he'll ask for?

given that after making 5.92 at the SEC he went for 6.01, I wouldn't dare to hazard a guess.

The Euros COULD have had three US Collegiates in the PV's!
Mondo, Sondre Gutormsen, and Lisa Gunnarsson!
Only Gutormsen traveled across the Pond!!

Not positive but I think FR is 5.71 Kendricks
    CR is 5.91 Barber

AR (not that Mondo is eligible anymore) 6.00
Hartwig he jumped 6.01 and 6.02 in Europe but those weren’t submitted not sure.

Highest jump on American Soil Hooker 6.06 2009
Highest jump on American Soil American Johnson 5.96

    So after 5.77

He has options he is a student of the the event, encyclopedia type knowledge.

    This is all purely speculative.

My guess is that if things are going well, he will attempt 5.93, then 6.01 if he makes that. If he is realllly on fire and makes 6.01, 6.06 next and then stops jumping if he makes that. Not sure he is in 6.06 form right now, but I would not have guessed he would make 6.05 at Euros last summer!

He was unable to get the signatures needed for the 6.01 and 6.02 to be ratified. If they had been in major meets, it would have been easier, but they were in fairly obscure meets.

7 men over 5.70 (including Sondre) at Euro Champs qualifying.

We'll see what happens in finals, but despite the absence of Mondo and Renaud, and despite the incredible NCAA depth, Euros may end up being the deeper meet after all. It will be fun to compare the two!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but over the last 3 seasons, Mondo has never continued jumping after he PR'ed unless the competition was still alive, so I guess 6.06 makes sense. That would raise the NR and put the CR on the shelf for a long time.
