Anyone see why the U.S. steeplers Bor and Ferlic got DQ'd?

for the steeplechase water jump, shall not step or run on or
inside the kerb or line marking the applicable border (the inside
of the track, the outer half of the track, or any curved part of the

It's closer overall than I had expected. The US team performing well in general, with quite a few PBs/SBs. 331-304 for Europe after day 1.

If the purpose of limiting the vertical jumps to 8 attempts is to shorten the competition, it is absurd to limit to 8 attempts and then have the women's PV height progression go 440-450-460-470-475-480-485-490-etc

You want to make the competition go fast? Use an aggressive height progression.

"Oh but the passing and strategy makes it so exciting" - yeah only for the hardcore fans.

Limiting to 8 attempts total makes an already confusing event even more confusing for the casual fan.

It was an entertaining day of track and field, and I'm happy to have had it available to watch on a Monday in September. Tuesday should be pretty good, too.

So it looks like three competitors were affected by this rule in the mHJ (Ivanyuk, Nabokau, and Wells) while only one competitor was affected in the wPV (Bengtsson).
