The pole vault is interesting....because you can see in real time what is happening....

But the other events....sure they applaud ....because the announcer just told them to....and there is our Winner!....without the announcer they are easily forgotten...

And bringing up Carl Lewis....yeah he was popular...30 years ago...

No, I'm talking about a crowd reaction when the implement lands.

Edwards was not as "rangy" at Taylor but he was not a midget.. and bigger than Claye.
I always marveled at the way he seemed to levitate the step phase.

I think that as a dual meet this is shaping up as the biggest non-event of 2019

A fun event that gives athletes one more chance to earn money sounds good to me. Everything can't be the Super Bowl.

The athletes that I've heard from are more interested in the meet because it's a good stepping stone for Doha, than the actual match.

I think this type of concept needs historical value to fly in this day and age. I doubt Ryder Cup as something newly started would be nearly as interesting to people and the players.

Doubtful this meet will ever have much meaning....assuming it even continues....

Comparing golf to track is pointless.....golf's audience is guys with lots of money....so the press and the advertisers follow....

Not sure if history has much to do with it...the old Soviet-U.S. duals were popular because of the Cold War rivalry....nothing like that now.

Probably right about the age of the Ryder Cup....the President Cup doesn't have anywhere near the excitement....

This thing starts in like nineteen hours. Any sign of actual start lists with lanes and names anywhere?

Three-hour live tv window on NBC Sports Gold. Well, there goes my day.
